An experimental study of individuals with moderate to severe alcohol use disorder found that semaglutide did not reduce a primary laboratory measure of alcohol craving or drinks per day compared to placebo. However, it significantly reduced the number of heavy drinking days, the number of drinks consumed on drinking days, naturalistic cravings, and alcohol-related negative consequences.
